Claim Intro OfferMission Viejo is a community built around outdoor activity — Lake Mission Viejo, the Oso Creek Trail, and proximity to the Coto de Caza and Trabuco Canyon trail systems give residents more than enough cardio opportunity. What most Mission Viejo residents discover eventually is that their cardio base is strong and their strength is not keeping pace. Personal training at The Atlas Gym, 12 minutes south on Marguerite Parkway, is where that changes.
The Atlas training team works with a large number of endurance athletes and outdoor-active clients from Mission Viejo. The programming philosophy accounts for your outside-the-gym activity: a cyclist on a high-volume training block gets different strength programming than someone training for their first 5K. The goal is always to make you better at the things you're already doing, while building the muscular base that protects you from overuse injury over the long term.
Mission Viejo has personal training options available at its commercial gyms — LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness both offer training sessions. The gap is in quality and environment. Atlas trainers carry credentials from ISSA, occupational therapy programs, and kinesiology institutions, and they coach in a private setting where your session isn't happening alongside three other clients at adjacent equipment. Services cover 1-on-1 fitness training, weight loss, muscle gain, bodybuilding, strength training, nutrition counseling, and conditioning.
The route from Mission Viejo is simple: Marguerite Parkway south to El Toro Road, turn right (west), then right on Del Lago Drive. Or take the I-5 south and exit at El Toro Road. Most Mission Viejo clients book early morning sessions to get their training in before the mid-morning traffic builds on Marguerite.

"The trainers here actually care about your progress. Working with Max Pryor was a game-changer — he explains things in a way that makes sense, especially if you're getting back into training. I've learned more about form and recovery in a few sessions with him than in years on my own."

How far is personal training at Atlas from Mission Viejo?
About 12 minutes. Take Marguerite Parkway south to El Toro Road, or the I-5 south to El Toro Road. The gym is at 23282 Del Lago Drive, Laguna Hills.
Is Atlas personal training better than what's available in Mission Viejo?
Mission Viejo's commercial gym training options are adequate for general fitness. Atlas is for people who want a specific outcome — body recomposition, strength development, athletic performance improvement — with a trainer who builds a program specifically for them and adjusts it based on results. That level of intentionality is what the 12-minute drive buys you.
What are the monthly training packages at Atlas?
Monthly packages are 4 sessions/mo ($600), 8 sessions/mo ($1,040), or 12 sessions/mo ($1,320). The intro offer (3 sessions for $299) is recommended as the starting point — it includes an assessment and two full sessions before you decide on a package.
Do Atlas trainers work with endurance athletes?
Yes. The Atlas team works with cyclists, runners, swimmers, and triathletes who need strength programming designed around their endurance training schedule. The programming accounts for your weekly training load and targets the specific muscle groups and movement patterns your sport demands.
